Oil Prices Stay Volatile as Brent Hovers Near $71

Global oil prices remained volatile on Monday as investors assessed the impact of higher crude supply, geopolitical developments, and concerns over the global economy.

According to international market data, Brent crude traded around $71 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) hovered near $68 per barrel during the session. Meanwhile, the UAE’s Murban crude was quoted at approximately $66 per barrel.

Oil prices have been fluctuating in recent weeks as markets react to changing supply and demand dynamics. The latest movement comes after OPEC+ agreed to gradually increase oil production in an effort to meet rising global demand while maintaining market stability. At the same time, investors continue to monitor geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the pace of economic growth in major economies, both of which could significantly influence fuel demand.

Analysts say expectations surrounding interest rate policies by major central banks, including the US Federal Reserve, are also affecting oil markets. Higher interest rates can slow economic activity and reduce energy consumption, while stronger economic growth typically boosts demand for crude oil.

Despite the recent volatility, crude prices remain well below the highs seen during previous periods of supply disruptions. Market participants are also closely watching US crude inventory data and China’s economic recovery for further clues about future demand.

Energy experts believe oil prices are likely to remain sensitive to global economic indicators, OPEC+ production decisions, and geopolitical developments over the coming weeks.

With energy costs playing a key role in inflation and fuel prices worldwide, movements in international crude markets will continue to be closely watched by governments, businesses, and consumers alike.
