Xiaomi is Shutting Down Popular Smartphone Series, Reports Claim

Xiaomi has reportedly discontinued its Civi smartphone lineup, signalling the end of its design-focused premium mid-range series after nearly five years. While the company has not officially confirmed the move, a fresh claim from a well-known Chinese tipster suggests the Civi brand is unlikely to return.

According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Xiaomi has shut down the Civi series with no plans for another generation. If accurate, the report would also confirm the cancellation of the much-rumoured Civi 6, which had been the subject of conflicting leaks for months.

Earlier reports claimed the Civi 6 was scrapped due to disappointing sales of its predecessor. Later leaks suggested development had resumed, with rumours pointing to flagship-level features including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 200MP main camera, a dedicated AI button, and a 6.59-inch quad-curved display. However, Xiaomi never confirmed any of those specifications.

Five-Year Run Comes to an End

Launched in China in 2021, the Civi series targeted style-conscious users with slim designs, advanced selfie cameras, and photography-focused features. Over the years, Xiaomi released the Civi 1S, Civi 2, Civi 3, Civi 4 Pro, and Civi 5 Pro.

The lineup also made its way to international markets, with the Civi 4 Pro launching in India as the Xiaomi 14 Civi. Reports suggested the Civi 5 Pro could debut globally as the Xiaomi 15 Civi, but those plans never materialised.

The Civi 5 Pro, unveiled in May 2025, now appears to be the final device in the series. It featured a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, Leica-branded cameras, a 50MP selfie camera, and launched at a starting price of 2,999 yuan.

Xiaomi May Shift Focus to T-Series

Industry reports suggest Xiaomi could instead strengthen its T-series portfolio, which offers flagship-inspired features at more competitive prices. The recently launched Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro have expanded the company’s premium mid-range offerings with powerful chipsets, Leica camera systems, and large batteries.

However, Xiaomi has not stated that the T-series will replace the Civi lineup, nor has it commented on the future of the Civi brand.

Until Xiaomi issues an official statement, the reported discontinuation remains unconfirmed. For now, the Civi 5 Pro appears to mark the end of one of Xiaomi’s most design-centric smartphone families.
