Pakistan’s tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi has clinched the mixed doubles title at the ITF Masters World Championship, teaming up with Germany’s Nina Hermann.
Aisam and Hermann defeated Portugal’s top-seeded pair Fred Gil and Rita Freitas 6-4, 6-3 in the final to secure the world championship title.
However, Aisam-ul-Haq and Aqeel Khan narrowly missed out on the men’s doubles title after losing the final to France’s Jacques Gley and Jean-Baptiste Renault.
Pakistan finished the ITF Masters World Championship with an impressive haul of four medals — one gold, two silver and one bronze.
Aqeel Khan also secured a bronze medal in the 40+ mixed doubles category alongside Germany’s Elaine Aranas Roth, while Aisam-ul-Haq and Aqeel Khan won the silver medal in the Men’s 45+ Doubles category.
The results mark a strong showing by Pakistan’s veteran tennis players on the international Masters circuit, with Aisam’s mixed doubles triumph adding a world title to the country’s medal tally.
