The search and recovery operation for the missing K2 Airways cargo aircraft entered its seventh consecutive day on Monday, with rescue teams continuing extensive sea and coastal operations near Ormara in Balochistan.
According to officials, the aircraft’s cockpit, fuselage, engines, and flight data recorder (black box) have yet to be located, despite an intensive multi-agency search involving the Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), and Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard has been placed on high alert along the Makran coastline, while continuous patrols are being carried out across the coastal belt. At the same time, Pakistan Navy divers are conducting deep-sea search operations beyond the 12-nautical-mile limit in an effort to locate the wreckage, critical flight equipment, and the bodies of the five crew members.
Sources said the search operation off the Ormara coast will continue on Tuesday as authorities expand efforts in the suspected crash zone.
The Boeing 737 cargo aircraft, operated by K2 Airways, disappeared from radar late on July 9 while flying from Sharjah to Karachi. Aviation authorities believe the aircraft may have crashed into the Arabian Sea, although the exact cause of the incident remains unknown. The discovery of the aircraft’s black box is expected to play a crucial role in determining what led to the tragedy.
The missing crew includes Captain Muhammad Rizwan, First Officer Faisal Mahmood, Loadmaster Muhammad Toufiq Khan, Engineer Arif Siddiqui, and Muhammad Hamid.
Speaking to ARY News, the son of Engineer Arif Siddiqui said his father worked for Northern Tec, and that company officials have remained in close contact with the family since the aircraft went missing. He added that representatives from both the Pakistan Air Force and the Pakistan Navy have also been regularly updating the family.
According to family members, Engineer Arif Siddiqui is survived by his wife, five sons, and three daughters, who continue to await any news as the search operation enters another critical day.
