Petrol, Diesel Prices Remain Unchanged in Paksitan for August 11

The federal government has decided to keep petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices unchanged for Tuesday, August 11, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division.

Under the decision, petrol will continue to be sold at Rs327.62 per litre, while high-speed diesel will remain at Rs380.86 per litre. The existing rates will remain applicable for August 11.

The government’s decision comes under Pakistan’s newly introduced daily petroleum pricing mechanism, through which the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) determines and publishes fuel prices based on international market trends.

Why were prices kept unchanged?

Reports said the latest rates were maintained partly because Platts international oil price data was not published, making a fresh daily adjustment impractical. As a result, the existing petrol and diesel rates were carried forward for August 11.

Under the new pricing framework, petroleum prices are linked to international market movements. The government has said OGRA will determine prices on a daily basis using the average Platts price over seven working days.

The new system replaced the previous periodic pricing mechanism and is part of the government’s broader plan to deregulate Pakistan’s petroleum sector and reduce direct government intervention in fuel price-setting.

Fuel taxes remain a major component of pump prices. According to current reports, the government is charging around Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 per litre on HSD.

For motorists, the unchanged rates mean there will be no additional increase or reduction in petrol and diesel prices at the start of August 11.

Current fuel prices:

Petrol: Rs327.62 per litre

High-Speed Diesel: Rs380.86 per litre

The daily pricing system means consumers could see another adjustment as soon as the next pricing cycle, depending on international oil prices and other components used in the pricing formula.
