The federal government has announced a marginal reduction in petroleum prices for the next three days, lowering the rates of both petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) effective from August 1 to August 3, 2026.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs. 0.12 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs. 336.03 per litre. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been cut by Rs. 0.66 per litre, setting the new price at Rs. 392.38 per litre. The revised rates will remain in effect until August 3.
The latest adjustment comes just a day after the government had increased fuel prices, when diesel was raised by Rs. 2.42 per litre and petrol by Rs. 1.09 per litre in line with fluctuations in international oil markets.
Pakistan has recently shifted to a more frequent petroleum pricing mechanism, allowing fuel prices to be revised more regularly instead of the traditional fortnightly schedule. The move is aimed at reflecting global crude oil price movements more quickly and ensuring greater transparency in the domestic fuel market.
Fuel prices remain a key driver of inflation in Pakistan, with changes directly affecting transportation costs, freight charges, and the prices of essential goods. The government says the revisions are based on international market trends and recommendations from the relevant authorities.
