Pakistan IT Exports Hit Record $4.5 Billion in FY2025-26

Pakistan’s information technology (IT) sector has achieved its highest-ever annual export earnings, with exports reaching $4.5 billion during fiscal year 2025-26, reflecting the country’s growing strength in the global digital economy.

According to official statistics, IT exports increased by 29% year-on-year, rising from $3.475 billion in FY2024-25 to $4.5 billion in the latest fiscal year. The strong performance also contributed to higher foreign exchange inflows, providing a boost to Pakistan’s external account.

Officials attributed the record growth to expanding exports across software development, business process outsourcing (BPO), software-as-a-service (SaaS), cloud solutions, and the gaming industry. Pakistan’s growing pool of skilled software engineers and competitive service costs have continued to attract international clients.

The government also highlighted the sector’s successful expansion beyond traditional markets in North America and Europe. Pakistani IT firms have strengthened their presence across the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in Japan and Singapore, while small and medium-sized technology enterprises (SMEs) have entered new global markets, helping diversify export revenues.

Industry experts say the surge reflects increasing global demand for Pakistan’s digital services, supported by improved connectivity, a thriving freelance ecosystem, and the rapid growth of technology startups. The expansion into new markets has also reduced reliance on a limited number of export destinations.

The government has set an ambitious target of further increasing IT exports by encouraging investment in digital infrastructure, expanding freelancer support programs, promoting innovation, and attracting foreign technology companies to Pakistan.

The record-breaking export performance underscores the IT sector’s growing role as one of Pakistan’s fastest-growing export industries and a key driver of economic growth, employment, and foreign exchange earnings.
