Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) has discontinued the Kia Picanto in Pakistan, removing the hatchback from its official vehicle lineup and closing new bookings for the model.
Although LMC has not issued a formal announcement, the Picanto has been removed from the company’s official website, while dealerships are reportedly no longer accepting fresh orders, indicating the end of its nearly six-year run in the local market.
LMC introduced the locally assembled Kia Picanto in Pakistan in September 2019, positioning it as an affordable and fuel-efficient city car equipped with modern features.
However, the hatchback struggled to secure a strong position in Pakistan’s highly competitive small-car segment. Weak sales, relatively high pricing, lower resale value and concerns over spare-parts availability reportedly affected consumer demand.
The Picanto also faced growing competition from other hatchbacks, while Pakistani buyers increasingly prioritized purchase price, resale value, after-sales support and easy availability of parts.
Despite its discontinuation in Pakistan, Kia continues to sell the third-generation Picanto in several international markets. The latest version features a refreshed exterior, updated lighting, an upgraded cabin, newer technology and enhanced safety equipment.
The removal of the Picanto leaves Kia’s local lineup focused on other passenger vehicles, as consumer preferences in Pakistan continue to shift toward larger vehicles and SUVs.
